Selection Stage Details
Written Examination
  • Conducted by UPSC on 03rd August, 2025.
  • Two papers:
    • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence - 250 Marks (Objective type, English & Hindi)
    • Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension - 200 Marks
  • Paper II Essay can be written in English or Hindi, but comprehension and other language skills in English only.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for each paper as decided by the Commission.
  • Paper-I must be cleared first to evaluate Paper-II.
Physical Standards & Efficiency Tests (PST/PET)
  • Qualified candidates in the written exam will undergo Physical Standards & Efficiency Tests.
  • Physical Efficiency Tests (PET):
  • Test Males Females
    100 Meters Race In 16 seconds In 18 seconds
    800 Meters Race In 3 minutes 45 seconds In 4 minutes 45 seconds
    Long Jump (3 chances) 3.5 Meters 3.0 Meters
    Shot Put (7.26 Kgs.) - 3 chances 4.5 Meters
  • Pregnant female candidates will be temporarily unfit and re-evaluated six weeks post-delivery.
  • PET is supervised by a Nodal Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Interview/Personality Test
  • Conducted by UPSC for candidates qualifying the PST/PET.
  • Carries 150 Marks.
  • Unqualified candidates in PET will not proceed to this stage.
Medical Standards Tests
  • Conducted for candidates who appeared in the Interview.
  • Supervised by a Nodal Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Appeals against Medical Test results can be submitted within 24 hours.
Final Selection / Merit
  • Merit list based on Written Examination and Interview scores.
  • Candidates failing to meet Medical Standards will not be appointed.

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence
  • General Mental Ability – Logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, numerical ability, and data interpretation.
  • General Science – General awareness, scientific temper, comprehension, and appreciation of scientific phenomena.
  • Current Events – National & international events in culture, arts, literature, sports, governance, development, globalization, etc.
  • Indian Polity & Economy – Political system, Constitution, social systems, public administration, economic development, security issues, and human rights.
  • History of India – Social, economic, and political aspects; nationalism and freedom movement.
  • Indian & World Geography – Physical, social, and economic geography.
Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension
  • Part A (80 Marks) – Essay writing on:
    • Modern Indian history (freedom struggle)
    • Geography, polity, and economy
    • Security and human rights issues
    • Analytical ability
  • Part B (120 Marks) – English comprehension and language skills:
    • Comprehension passages
    • Précis writing
    • Developing counterarguments
    • Simple grammar and language testing

CAPF Exam Preparation 2025
