Recruitment for the posts of Assistant Professors through Direct Recruitment & Lateral Entry (Regular and Limited Recruitment) Walk In Recruitment

Sr Description
1. Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Professors in the Government Medical Colleges and Teaching Hospitals under the Directorate of Medical Education through the Direct Recruitment and Lateral Entry methods under Walk In Recruitment Mode
2. Recruitment is on a regular basis and through walk-in recruitment mode.
3. Recruitment shall be as per the service rules issued in the GO.Ms.No.154 HM&FW Dt. 27.06.2002 read with the amendments issued from time to time and Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations issued by NMC from time to time.
4. Details of specialty-wise vacancies are at ANNEXURE NO. I to the notification. Vacancies may be increased / decreased.

Educational Qualifications and Age Limit

Position Educational Qualifications
Assistant Professor in broad specialties (Clinical and Non-Clinical)

1. PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB/DM) in concerned specialty from the institutions recognized by MCI/NMC

2. Should have completed One year of Senior Residency from a recognized institute after completion of required qualification

Assistant Professor Super Specialties

1. PG Degree (DNB/DM/MCH) in concerned specialty from the institutions recognized by MCI/NMC/DCI

Job Details

Point Description
Pay Scale

Salary will be paid as per the rules in force till the completion of probation period.

The 7th UGC Pay scales (G.O.Ms.No.22, HM & FW (A1) Dept., Dated 01.03.2021) will be applicable after completion of the probation period.

Requirements for Direct Recruitment

For Direct Recruitment mode in Clinical and Non-Clinical Specialties:

  • Completion of One year of Senior Residency/will be completing by 31.12.2023 from a recognized institute after the required qualification.
  • Candidates with DNB from institutes not recognized by NMC should have completed an additional one-year period of Senior Residency.
Age Limit

i. OC candidate should not have completed 42 years as on date of Notification

ii. EWS/SC/ST/BC candidates should not have completed 47 years as on date of Notification

iii. Physically Handicapped persons should not have completed 52 years as on date of Notification

iv. Ex-servicemen should not have completed 50 years as on the date of Notification

Rule of Reservation

Rule of Reservation will apply as per A.P State and Subordinate Service Rules in force.


ONLY LOCAL candidates are ELIGIBLE to apply for direct recruitment. NON-LOCAL candidates are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.


Point Description
Local Candidature Criteria

i. Candidates who are Local to Andhra Pradesh ONLY need to apply.

(Candidates who studied from 4th Class to 10th Class in the State of A.P and candidates who migrated to any part of AP from the State of Telangana within a period of 3 years from 2nd June 2014, as per G.O.No.132 GAD Dt.13-6-2016 & G.O.Ms.No.133 GAD Dt.13.06.2016, are considered as Local).

Residence/Nativity Certificate

ii. The Residence Certificate/Nativity/Domicile Certificate issued by MRO/Tahsildar will not be allowed for Local consideration without mentioning the G.O.No.132 GAD Dt.13-6-2016 & G.O.Ms.No.133 GAD Dt.13.06.2016 for the candidate who studied in the state of Telangana before bifurcation.

Educational Institution Study Proof

iii. The Residence Certificate will not be accepted if a Candidate has studied in any Educational Institutions up to SSC or equivalent Examination; such candidates have to produce study certificates invariably.

Selection Procedure for Direct Recruitment

Point Description
A. Selection will be based on merit and rule of reservation.
B.

Merit list will be prepared for all eligible candidates. Selection lists will be based on merit lists and roster points as per the Rules of Reservation issued in AP State and Subordinate Services.

C. Total Marks – 100
D.

75 Marks based on marks/grades obtained in the qualifying degree.

- Candidates without PG marks memo or Grade: Percentage of marks will be taken as 50% (50% x 75 = 37.50).

a. Candidate responsibility: Obtain and submit marks memos from competent authorities where grades are issued.

b. Regarding Grades: (Marks considered as 75%)

  • Grade – A Distinction (75% to 85% mean 80%)
  • Grade – B+ Above Average (65% to 74% mean 70%)
  • Grade – B Pass (50% to 64% mean 57%)
E.

10 Marks based on weightage for the number of years since passing qualifying examination, up to 10 marks at 1 mark per PG/Completion of PG/Super-specialty completed year.

F. 5 Marks of weightage for candidates completing PG/Super Specialty from Central Institutions.
G. 15 Marks for contract service rendered in Government institutions.

Point Description
Eligibility Criteria for Lateral Entry

a. Civil Assistant Surgeons in Directorate of Public Health & Family Welfare or DSH (APVVP) are eligible.

b. Assistant Professors in Directorate of Medical Education are eligible for Assistant Professors in super specialties only.

c. Candidates must be an approved probationer or have completed the probation period in the cadre of CAS/Assistant Professor.

d. No pending disciplinary charges and no unauthorized absence.

Rule of Reservation and NOC Requirement

2. Rule of Reservation applicable to promotions will be followed in the lateral entry recruitment.

3. Candidates applying for Lateral Entry must submit NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the HoD in the prescribed format at ANNEXURE NO.IV.

Selection Procedure for Lateral Entry

4. Merit list preparation based on the rank given by the respective appointing authority at the time of recruitment as CAS/Assistant Professor.

5. Selection list preparation based on merit and rule of reservation applicable to promotions as per AP state and subordinate service rules.

i. Walk-in recruitment schedule and venues provided for different specialties and posts.

ii. Application fee: Rs 1000/- for OC and Rs 500/- for BC, SC, EWS, ST, and PH candidates.
